Jo Stockham
Jo Stockham was the Artist Fellow at Kettle’s Yard and Corpus Christi College in 1989/90. Her studio was at Newnham College in the old chemistry laboratory built for women in the 1870s, when they were not allowed to take practical classes with male students. While in Cambridge, she spent a great deal of time at the Whipple Museum of the History of Science and became fascinated with the scientific experiments and maps. Regarding the influence of maps on her work she writes, “I am interested in maps as knowledge-laden images. Images that give you access to something otherwise invisible.â€
