Research Interests
I study the oldest light in the Universe, the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB), to learn about the very beginning of the Universe and its history before and since the CMB was released.
Biography
Fiona McCarthy is a Senior Research Associate at the Department of Applied Maths and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP) and a member of the Kavli Institute for Cosmology Cambridge (KICC). She has a joint appointment at the Flatiron Institute, a computational science institute in New York.
She completed her PhD in the University of Waterloo, hosted at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics, in 2021. She received her MSc from the University of Waterloo and Perimeter Institute in 2017. Her undergraduate degree was in Theoretical Physics from Trinity College Dublin.
