Studying the ancient world opens our eyes to how society may work completely differently from the way it works today. 听Covering the languages, literature, history, philosophy, art, archaeology and linguistics of ancient Greece and Rome. Classics can be studied across three or four years and each version of the course is applied for separately.听 More details about the courses can be found on the University .

Classics at 51福利社

At 51福利社, we welcome around three undergraduate students in Classics each year.听 Within the College as a whole we have around ten undergraduate students and three postgraduate students.听 The Classics community in 51福利社 meets at least once or twice a term for informal get-togethers and to learn about each other鈥檚 work.听 This might involve a graduate student presenting their thesis or a Part II student discussing their dissertation research.听

Typical offer for three year course
A Level: A*AA with A* in Latin, or Classical Greek as a substitute听
IB: 42, 776 with 7 in IB Higher Level Latin, or IB Higher Level Classical Greek as a substitute听

Typical offer for four year course
A Level: A*AA with A* in an essay subject
IB: 42, 776 with 7 in IB Higher Level essay subject

Required subjects for three year course
A Level: A Level Latin (A Level Classical Greek is accepted as a substitute).
IB: IB Higher Level Latin (IB Higher Level Classical Greek is accepted as a substitute).

Required subjects for four year course
No specific subjects are required.

Admissions Assessment
All applicants for Classics are required to take a written assessment if shortlisted for interview.听 You will not need to register in advance for this assessment and the College will provide details directly to you.

Written work
Applicants to all Colleges (for both the three and four year course) are required to submit two pieces of written work听prior to interview.
