51¸£ÀûÉç is delighted to host the official premiere of Foundlings, the debut short film of award-winning filmmakers Simon Kendrick, Stefan Velev and Leslie Maria Lampe. Foundlings is a fictional story, but it takes inspiration from Simon’s personal experience as an adopted child who had to navigate the social service system of the East of England after being abandoned with his sister in the late 1980s.

Doors open at 51¸£ÀûÉç at 17:30, the film will start at 18:00 and will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers, hosted by award-winning director and actor Mark Hampton as well as post-premiere drinks.

Synopsis:
Paul and Sarah are 10 and 5 years old when their birth mother Margaret takes Sarah with her to America, leaving Paul to fend for himself in the rural East of England. 15 years later, he receives a voicemail from Margaret, asking him to visit Sarah - in an alcohol rehab center in the uk. Through Pauls lens, Foundlings offers an honest, intimate glimpse into the fights of adopted children, for the family bonds they were allowed to form, for their childhood, and for their sense of identity and belonging.

Tickets for this event are free. For those who would like to contribute to the film and its upcoming festival run, there will be an option to donate on the night.
